Fairness begins with the voices we choose to include.

About me

  • Name: Gisubizo Gatesi
  • Study program and semester: Culture, Communication & Globalisation (CCG), 1st semester
  • Running for: Academic Council — Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities

My name is Gisubizo Gatesi, and I am a first-semester Master’s student in Culture, Communication & Globalisation. I believe deeply in the idea that knowledge shapes society — and that society can only be as fair as the knowledge it is built on.

Although I am new to AAU, I bring a strong sense of purpose, curiosity, and commitment to my studies and community. I am passionate about social issues, cultural storytelling, and understanding how communication influences the world around us.

I’m running for the Academic Council because I want to help build an academic environment where students feel represented, informed, and genuinely included in important decisions. To me, fairness begins with listening, and making sure that every student’s voice has space to be heard.

Fairness begins with the voices we choose to include.

Key issues

1. Fair and Transparent Academic Decision-Making
Students deserve clarity about the policies and decisions that shape their education. I want to help ensure that academic processes are transparent, student-centered, and grounded in fairness.

2. Better Communication Between Students and Council Members
A strong academic environment is built on trust, and trust begins with communication. I want to improve the connection between students and the decision-makers who influence their academic experience, making it easier for students to express concerns and stay informed.

3. Representation That Reflects Our Faculty’s Diversity
Our faculty brings together students from many cultures, backgrounds, and fields of study. I want the Academic Council to reflect that richness and actively include diverse perspectives in decision-making.

Knowledge should empower all of us - not just some of us.

Why vote for me

You should vote for me because I bring fresh perspective, genuine commitment, and a strong belief in fairness. I want every student - no matter their background or semester - to feel involved, informed, and valued.

I am dedicated to representing student concerns respectfully and clearly, and to making sure they reach the decision-making table with the seriousness they deserve. I believe in an AAU where students feel supported, where communication is open, and where fairness is not just discussed but practiced.
